Engineering as an art: Robert did terrible in High School, probably because he spent most all of his time drawing. He loved it and wanted more than anything to find a job using those talents. He didn’t have the grades for art school, so he joined the Navy to secure his education. While in the Navy Robert began portraits for people and tried endlessly to start some kind of business with his art.
Robert spent 6 years in the Navy before returning to Maine. Robert began a career at an electronics firm. When a customer was anxious to get a new product the firm was developing, Robert decided to make a wooden mock up. Robert used a dremel and made his first woodcarving and was hooked.
